SYDNEY
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA Tuesday, Sorry for the delay. It has been challenging to get internet access to update blog. I will update it as often as I possibly can… The adventure continues. I got on the first flight I tried for… Literally walked right on within minutes of arriving at LAX. Blessed beginning. Departed LAX Thurs. 1/20/05 @ 8:45pm & Arrived Sydney 6:05am Saturday, 1/23…. Slept 8 hours on the plane and still… Jet lag was kicking my ass. I feel much better after days of rest, yoga, good company, and walking to the cliffs of Dee Why beach to breathe in the ocean breezes overlooking the coastline from Sydney in both directions. Sydney alternates frequently between raining, thunder & lightning, then sunny and bold blue skies filled with white cockatoos, rainbow lorikeets, and the scent of frangipani and eucalyptus. Nice. Met with eco-architect Gareth Cole yesterday. Nice connection. Shared my Earth Art slideshow, learned much of his work & plans for an ecovillage in The Blue Mountains of Oz. He hooked me up with new people to connect with…Lovely. I’m staying with a great family. 2 cats, 2 kids, 17 & 24, and a cool couple. Very playful and artistic, so we have a lot to share, and we laugh a lot. Artwork all over the house is very special. Paintings of owls, monkeys, rhinos, all honoring our planet’s creatures and the beauty of nature. WWOOFing has offered me the opportunity to clean and garden in exchange for staying here. I’ve never dusted so much in one day. And weeding will be an all day affair Thursday. Keeping it real and keeping me humble. I’ve been invited to co-lead an Earth Building workshop with Philip Mirkin of Colorado/Hybrid Adobe, at the Eco-Show in New Zealand March 3-6th! Sounds good. www.hybridadobe.com I’m going to sleep. Tomorrow is AUSTRALIA DAY and apparently we’ll be celebrating all over town. I’ll let you know how that turns out!! Much love from downwunder. Claire
